The Success of Director Joseph Kane was closely associated with that of Republic Pictures. Kane worked as a musician and film editor before taking up direction. Gun Smoke Ranch is among his earlier successes as director. Good use of locations, clever dialogues and well placed humor contribute to the success of this early western, in which the Three Mesquiteers foil the attempts of a greedy gangster who is all set to cheat the town’s citizens of their land and their money.
